In the first week of October, the “Live with Cause” event was held at the Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Monterrey, and the “5th Inclusion forum for people with disabilities”, which has the objective of aims to: promote the inclusion of people with disabilities, as well as raise awareness in the Tec community about the importance of this item in the institution.
En la primera semana del mes de octubre, se celebró en el Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Monterrey, el evento “Vive con Causa”, y dentro de su agenda se llevó a cabo el “5to. Foro de Inclusión para personas con Discapacidad”, el cual tiene como objetivo: fomentar la inclusión de personas con discapacidad, así como concientizar a la comunidad Tec sobre la importancia de este rubro en la Institución.
The morning of Thursday 3rd, was attended by Dr. Pedro Ponce Cruz, who gave the conference: Design and innovation of devices to improve the quality of life”. Dr. Pedro Ponce is Control and Automatization Systems Engineer; with a PhD (2002) and master (1998) in Control Systems Centered in Electrical Systems.
La mañana del jueves 3, se contó con la participación del Dr. Pedro Ponce Cruz, quien impartió la conferencia: “Diseño e innovación de dispositivos para mejorar la calidad de vida”. El Dr. Pedro Ponce es Ingeniero de Sistemas de Control y Automatización; con Doctorado (2002) y Maestría (1998) en Sistemas de Control Centrados en Sistemas Eléctricos.
His talk focused on highlighting: how the technology can be a valuable tool to improve the quality of life people with disabilities.
Su charla se enfocó en resaltar: cómo la tecnología puede ser una herramienta valiosa para mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas que cuentan con alguna discapacidad.
He shared information about two prototypes:

- Basic Social Support Robots for people in the autistic spectrum.
- Design and evaluation of an intelligent wheelchair.
• Robots sociales básicos de apoyo para pesonas en el espectro austista. • Diseño y evaluación de una silla de ruegas inteligente
At the end, he pointed out the importance of collaboration between institutions, in order to offer this type of tools at an accessible price, mentioning that his team is in charge in finding out those alternatives.
Al finalizar, puntualizó la importancia de la colaboración entre instituciones, para lograr ofrecer este tipo de herramientas a un costo accesible, mencionando que su equipo se está encargando de encontrar esas alternativas.
We have to remember that the “Intelligent wheelchair” technology arises at the Tecnológico de Monterrey as a result of the research work developed by Dr. Pedro Ponce. Currently, a prototype of the chair is found at the Innovation HUB Tec-China Technological Showroom.
Recordemos que la tecnología “Silla de Ruedas Inteligente”, surge en el Tecnológico de Monterrey, como resultado del trabajo de investigación desarrollado por el Dr. Pedro Ponce. Actualmente, un prototipo de la silla se encuentra en el Showroom Tecnológico del Innovation HUB Tec-China.
